Glovers Reef

Glovers Reef, Belize

Welcome to Glovers Reef, Belize. This isle is extremely popular with scuba divers and backpackers around the world. It is one of only four atolls found in our hemisphere which makes it a desired place to travel to and explore. Belize's waters host three of the four atolls in all of the western hemisphere.

Glover's Reff atoll is known as a Marine Reserve and a World Heritage Site. There are coconut trees, white sands, a pristine reef, and nature to explore. Glover's reef atoll was named after Rodger and John Glover who were pirates in the year 1750. The Mayans sailed over to Glover's reef long before the pirates and they left keepsakes around the land and throughout the beaches.

Are you wondering what an 'atoll' is?

An atoll is known as a ring of coral that developed around an islands' shores and continued to grow upright. Erosion would destroy it eventually or the remains would create another entity. This unique island is one of those entities that was created from a previous ancient island. Imagine the experience!
