Caye Caulker, Belize

Caye Caulker is a beautfiul coral island just off the coast of Belize, in the Caribbean Sea. There is a town within the islands called Caye Caulker Village. Some people state that the name of the island came from previous caulking and sealing of wooden boats on the island. The island has been known to have its fair share of shipwrecks over the years.

This beautiful tropical island can be reached by plane or by high speed water taxis. It is located approximately 20 miles from the northeast of Belize City. In the past five to ten years this island has become a popular destination for tourists from around the world and most definitely backpackers. There are numerous restaurants to enjoy, shops to explore and hotels to stay at.
